A Little of This...

...and a little of that...

***WELCOME HOME***

Bryan's squadron-mates made it home safe and sound last night. Maddy and I went to offer our support in welcoming everyone home. We had a really good time. Some of the people that came home were so surprised at the changes they saw in Maddy. Maddy's friend Sophi (remember? She's the one that's 3 weeks older than Maddy)'s parents were both deployed. Sophi went to "summer camp" at her Aunt and Uncle's house. Sophi's parents are going to pick her up tomorrow out of state. Maddy was sad that her friend wasn't there, but I assured her that we'd set up a playdate as soon as they were back and settled!! :)

***FROM THE ARCHIVES***

Mom, I gave you ample opportunity, but you never posted these pictures, so I wanted to share them with everyone!! While some of the guests from Maddy's Big Weekend were still here, we went to see the wind farms. Here's Grandpop modeling with the windmills. :)

VERY GQ, if I say so myself!! ;)

***CHEF MADDY***

Maddy got a chef's outfit from a friend of ours for her birthday (to go with her new kitchen). Here she is modeling it:

***LOVE THE PUPPY***

Bryan's parents found a stuffed Chocolate Lab puppy for Maddy. They brought it to her during her big weekend. Maddy LOVES her puppy!! She's just started hugging and kissing people. She even goes so far as to hug me and pat on my back (like I do to soothe her when she's upset or tired). It's pretty dang cute. Here's a video of Maddy loving her puppy:

***SHE MAY LOOK SWEET AND TINY***

...but Maddy is a BOTTOMLESS PIT today!! For breakfast, Maddy had a pancake, cheerios and almost half a box of raisins. THEN, for lunch, she had a 1/2 a peanut butter sandwich, grapes and goldfish. This kid is EATING LIKE CRAZY!! Growth spurt anyone?? LoL.

Well, I guess that's about it for now. Bryan is out of town this week at Ft. Benning, GA. He's helping some of the guys there practice jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. Thank goodness Bryan and I agree on how silly it is to do such a thing!! HaHaHa. I'm glad his job is to tell the guys when to jump... Not to join them!! :)

Talk to everyone soon!

Love you guys! :)

WOW...

...What a weekend?!?!

We had an absolute BLAST this past weekend. I think Maddy is glad to have things back to "normal", but I know that she had a good time!! We had all kinds of family come to town and lots of friends over to our house for Maddy's baptism and her first birthday party. They say "a picture is worth a thousand words", so I think rather than give details of the weekend with words, I'll just share some of the pictures I have. I must give credit where credit is due, however, these are the pictures from my mom's camera, so all credit goes to my parents for the great photos! Thanks for taking these and sharing them. It was nice to get to experience the weekend live, and not from behind the camera lens!!

Here goes nothing...

Maddy got lots of nice gifts for her baptism before the ceremony. I believe that every gift had some significant meaning for her.

A little Mommy Maddy moment before the ceremony started:

Peek-A-Boo!! Everyone want to take your picture, so PLEASE smile big!! :)

Then, on Sunday Maddy invited her friends over for her birthday party:

My mom and I decorated the cakes. Sorry, Mom, there weren't any pictures that I thought you'd want me to post of you decorating the cake...

This is Maddy's "smash cake" on the plate that I painted for her:

The cake that everyone else enjoyed:

Bryan's parents found a stuffed Chocolate Lab puppy that looks just like Nash. Maddy instantly fell in love with it!!

The banner on the front of the house:

Here comes the birthday princess!!!!

I think that everyone had a nice time just chatting and the kids playing:

One of the many tea sets that Maddy received. It was pretty funny. She got 3, and by the 3rd one, the gift giver mentioned that the gift receipt was in the package before we even opened it. Maddy will be the best outfitted tea party host in Abilene!! :)

Digging deep!!

Maddy had lots of good little helpers to open her gifts:

Thank you, everyone!! YAY!! :)

Maddy says, "Why is everyone singing and looking at me?? I'm so confused!!"

Here she goes:

YAY!! Check out that mess!!! :)

At the end of the day, poor Maddy was WIPED out!! She took a little siesta on Grandpop's shoulder:

Maddy is still trying to catch up from all the excitement of this past weekend, as am I. Thanks to everyone who made this weekend such a success!! This great little girl only gets one baptism and first birthday!!

Love you guys!! :)

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY MADDY!!!

Well, she did it! Maddy survived her first year of life (with Bryan and me as her parents)!! If you've been reading my blog, you know what all she's been up to for the last year, so I won't go into all of those details, but here's a peek at the change from this day last year to today:

We're really looking forward to all the company that will be arriving tomorrow for Maddy's big weekend. Saturday will be Maddy's baptism and Sunday will be her birthday party with friends and family. Bryan has to work tonight, so we opened presents once everyone was up and moving this morning. Then, we went out for a nice lunch. Maddy's birthday buddy Breezy, her husband Mike and a friend of ours Angela joined us. Maddy was kind enough to let Breezy choose the restaurant since it is her birthday too. Unfortunately, I didn't think to take a picture of them at lunch together today. I'll have to be better and get a picture of them at the birthday party. Here are just a couple of pictures of Maddy opening her gifts this morning...

I also took Maddy's one year portraits earlier this week. Here are just a few of those:

We hope everyone is having a good day! I know we are!

Love you guys!! :)
